Codex releases new ArriRaw recorder

LOS ANGELES — Codex (www.codexdigital.com) is now supporting in-camera ArriRaw recording for the Alexa family of cameras, which includes up to 120fps acquisition. The uncompressed in-camera recorder will come as an upgrade for existing cameras and will be included as standard in new cameras. The XR Module is available direct from Arri.

The in-camera ArriRaw recorder uses high-performance Codex Capture Drives, which are identical in form to the current Codex Capture Drives and are compatible with the company’s Codex Vault and Transfer Stations. Single and Dual Capture Drive docks are available to meet the requirements of all projects.

The XR Module provides several recording options in a single package. ArriRaw at up to 120fps (16:9) can be recorded onto a high performance Codex Capture Drive. In addition, Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD can be recorded to a Capture Drive, making longer recording times possible (up to 2.1 hours of ProRes 4444), or with an SxS adapter, to an SxS PRO card.
