IBC 2013: Dolby shows new pro monitor, the PRM-4220

AMSTERDAM — Dolby Laboratories (www.dolby.com) has updated its Professional Reference Monitor. The new PRM-4220 offers the same accuracy and Grade 1 performance as the PRM-4200, but introduces several new hardware features, including HDMI 1.4 and Display Port 1.1 interfaces.

“The Dolby Professional Reference Monitor is constantly being updated to keep pace with evolving workflows,” notes Bill Admans, Dolby’s director of production and post production solutions. “These new hardware features incorporate the Dolby monitor with the latest workflow tools, ensuring our customers realize full return-on-investment.”

With a more ergonomic design and a slimmer profile, the updated monitor allows facilities easier integration into installations where space is limited. Other improvements include an almost one-third weight reduction over the previous design.

At IBC, Dolby’s PRM-4220 is displaying images acquired on the Arri Alexa camera, played back from the new Codex Digital Review system connected via 12-bit HDMI to the monitor.
