Shade VFX moves to larger space, appoints business development exec

SANTA MONICA — Shade VFX (www.shadevfx.com) has relocated to Bergamot Station in Santa Monica in response to an increase in business. The new facility doubles the space for the growing four-year-old company, which is currently working on The Wolverine and Echo.  Shade VFX’s recent feature work includes Behind the Candelabra and 42. The studio has also contributed to commercials for Charter, Pepsi, POM, Hewlett-Packard and Time Warner Cable.

As part of the move, veteran VFX producer Lisa Maher has been named business development executive. She most recently held the role of business development executive at Fuel VFX and Dr. D Studios, where she represented the Australian firms in the Los Angeles marketplace. Prior to that, Maher produced visual effects for 16 years, overseeing facility work on 25 productions. Her main tenures were at CIS Hollywood and at Rhythm & Hues Studios.

Bergamot Station is located on eight acres in the heart of Santa Monica and is Southern California’s largest art gallery complex and cultural center. Shade’s new studio at Bergamot Station includes stage space that can accommodate greenscreen shoots.
