'That's Voiceover' comes to Hollywood, offers career advice

HOLLYWOOD — That's Voiceover, a voiceover career expo, will take place in Hollywood on Saturday, August 17. The event will be held at the Directors Guild of America and will bringing agents, buyers and talent together with real job opportunities, auditions and career advancement tips. 

Acclaimed voiceover performer/actor Keith David will shares his inner world of voice acting with legendary teacher/voiceover performer Patrick Fraley on stage. Fraley will guide all in a celebration of David’s inspired career while illuminating the genres of cartoon voices, documentary narration, commercials, and promos.

Host and voice actor Bill Ratner will put 20 lucky ticket holders on the clock for one-on-one speed dating with top agents, casting directors and producers. Each selected individual will get private eight-minute sessions in which to audition, share a demo and get real-world career feedback. 

Amazon’s Audiobook Creation Exchange will award two titles through That’s Voiceover — one for a male and one for a female. All ticket holders are eligible to audition for the paying job.

The Live from the Red Carpet workshop brings together Joe Cipriano, Cedering Fox, Dave Fennoy, Sylvia Villagran, Andy Geller, Ellen K, and executive producer Cort Casady for insight into live voice announcing on some of the world's biggest stages. Practical career steps and the artful mechanics of performing the job will be discussed.

This year will also feature the inaugural Voice Arts Awards, which will be presented to Keith David. The Voice Arts Award was created to honor, celebrate and elevate the best in class practices that constitute the breath of the voiceover industry.
