OSCARS: 'Room on the Broom' nominate for 'Animated Short'

BEVERLY HILLS — Room on the Broom has been nominated for an Oscar in the Short Film (Animated) category. The film was directed by Max Lang and Jan Lachauer. The honor marks Lang's second nomination ( The Gruffalo) and Lachauer's first.

Magic Light Pictures' Michael Rose and Martin Pope were the producers on the project. It marks their third film to be nominated in four years (animated short: The Gruffalo; animated feature: Chico & Rita).

"This is incredible!" says Lang and Lachauer. "We tried not to think about the possibility of getting nominated and kept telling each other, this won't happen...and now…it really did happen! We would like to thank the Academy in the name of the whole team that worked incredibly hard on making this film. This nomination means a lot to us and we're so happy our film made it this far."

"I was in a meeting about our next production and Martin was at a lunch when our office called with the amazing news," says Rose. "We're completely thrilled and delighted. It's a great honour for the film, and we're so grateful to our brilliant directors Max Lang and Jan Lachauer, and everyone who worked so hard to make the film."
