SOVAS to present '1st Annual Voice Arts Awards'

NEW YORK — Voice actors, producers, casting directors, audio engineers and creative directors are invited to enter the 1st Annual Voice Arts Awards, which is being presented by the Society of Voice Arts And Sciences (SOVAS). The awards competition honors excellence in the voiceover industry and will take place on November 9th at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, NY.

SOVAS is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the acknowledgment, recognition and advancement of voiceover actors and the associated professionals (casting directors, producers, creative directors, agents and coaches) who make up what is generally described as the voiceover industry. SOVAS board members include founders Joan Baker and Rudy Gaskins, as well as Steve Ulrich and Stephen McCarthy.

The early bird entry deadline for the Voice Arts Awards (www.VoiceArts.org) is June 17th. The final deadline is July 15th. The Voice Arts Awards will also look to identify the next generation of voice actors with five categories that highlight student productions, and the talented collegians who lend their voices and production skills to the performance.

The Voice Arts Award statuette was designed in partnership with R.S. Owens & Company, which is known for designing the Oscar, the Emmy, the MTV Video Music Award and the Clio.
