Cinedeck expands flexible UHD workflow choices

NEW YORK — Cinedeck LLC (www.cinedeck.com), developer of capture systems for motion picture and broadcast production, is focusing on “Advanced Workflow Options for 4K/UHDTV-1/HD/SD” at NAB 2015. With the support of Burbank’s Creative Mobile Solutions, Cinedeck is giving hands-on demonstrations of an array of brand new editorial and video-processing solutions that, according to the company, significantly improve productivity in cinema, live, mobile and traditional broadcast workflows, and is debuting the modular Cinedeck ZX record, ingest and transcode platform, as well as the SetMeUp mobile production case.

Cinedeck’s solutions include demonstrations of its Cinedeck File-Based Insert Editing, which enables file-to-file insert editing on digital deliverables. Editors can quickly perform frame-accurate insert edits, of video and audio, into a digital file, in a similar manner to insert-editing on tape. Available in the forthcoming v5 software upgrade, Cinedeck File-Based Insert Editing eliminates traditional, time-consuming and costly workaround procedures of editing and re-rendering entire final program content, or editing and laying off to tape then re-encoding to a delivery file, with vastly improved efficiency.

Cinedeck File-based Insert Editing harnesses industry-standard deck controls and supports popular intermediate formats used by the most common NLE systems, including Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut and Adobe Premiere, plus ProTools audio workstations.

The company is also introducing Cinedeck ZX, the modular ZX record, ingest and transcode platform, that ushers in an enterprising approach to workflow with a lower cost-of-entry. Cinedeck ZX comes in three base hardware configurations, to which a range of Cinedeck-developed hardware and software options can be easily added, enabling the custom-building of workflow capabilities for 4K, UHDTV-1, HD and SD production and post production.

Starting at $21,995 USD, the base-level Cinedeck ZX20 provides two channels of 2K, HD or SD, with optional 4K playback. The mid-level Cinedeck ZX40 provides more I/O and processing power to deliver four channels of 2K, HD or SD, and, when fully-loaded with plug-in packages, is equivalent to the 4K-capable Cinedeck MX. The turbo-level Cinedeck ZX45 adds even greater processing power to support 4K and UHDTV-1 at 60P and eight channels of 2K, HD or SD.

In addition, Cinedeck is introducing its new SetMeUp production case, co-developed by Cinedeck and MAM software developer Axle Video, SetMeUp is a cost-effective HD/4K/UHDTV on-site workflow system, providing everything needed to capture, playback, store and manage HD/4K/UHDTV video content, for live and episodic broadcast TV. Pre-packaged into a convenient wheeled case, it consists of Cinedeck ZX, Axle Gear Pro media management system, 18TB of storage, with options to add SAN/NAS storage from partners such as Facilis, Small Tree and DDP. SetMeUp is available from resellers starting at $59,950, or for rental at rates from $8,000 per month.
