Cinesite teams with iAnimate to offer animation apprenticeships

MONTREAL — VFX and animation studio Cinesite has teamed up with online training company iAnimate to offer a new animation apprenticeship. “iAnimate at Cinesite” is designed to foster new talent entering into the Canadian visual effects and animation industry. The apprenticeship offers successful applicants the opportunity for online training, a two-year contract as a trainee animator with Cinesite, and invaluable animated feature production experience. Applicants, who must be eligible to work in Canada, are encouraged to apply for the apprenticeship via iAnimate’s Website (https://ianimate.net/).

iAnimate puts students directly in contact with veteran animators from some of the industry’s best studios. Run by veteran animation director Jason Ryan, its set of workshops has a reputation for producing talented, production-ready recruits.

Cinesite announced in September 2014 that they have moved into animated feature film production at their 35,000-square-foot Montréal studio. Through a multi-picture deal with 3QU Studios, they are currently working on a slate of animated films, the first of which, Charming, is set for release in 2016. Ryan is currently working with Cinesite as animation director on Charming.

“Cinesite has been investigating ways to invest in new talent for some time,” explains Cinesite head of animation, Eamonn Butler. “Jason and I share similar backgrounds in animation, both originating from Dublin and working together at Disney at a formative time in our careers. We share an understanding of what skills are necessary for students to master in order to become successful professional animators. iAnimate has a history of delivering exceptional, production-focused training. This is the perfect fit for both of us.”

The deadline for applying to iAnimate at Cinesite is Friday, May 15th.
