Panavision/Light Iron shows new workflow technologies

LOS ANGELES — Panavision/Light Iron made a number of announcements at CineGear Expo 2015 this past weekend. PanaNet is a high speed fiber network connecting production to post production on a global scale. It was developed in response to a growing need for productions that travel to other territories. Customers can drop footage off at any Panavision location for a secure transfer of material at up to 10Gbs/s.

LightScan is a Blackmagic Cintel film scanner, integrated into a custom ProRes UHD workflow for film post production. It acts as a low-cost telecine solution that transfers UHD quality material and eliminates needs for re-scanning film. The company sees applications with independent films, commercials, and television shows that prefer film optics.

Panavision/Light Iron also showed Panavision Modular accessories for customizing Epic, Alexa, VariCam and F55 cameras. They are designed to be lightweight and tool-less for easy removal from studio mode to Steadicam mode. Users can benefit from additional 24v and 12v power, USB and SDI outputs.

The company also held 8K DI demonstrations using a combination of Panavision Primo 70 optics, the Red Weapon sensor, Quantel Pablo Rio for color correction and playback, and a  BOE 98-inch panel.
