Red introduces 5K Scarlet-W camera

IRVINE, CA – Red Digital Cinema (www.red.com) has unveiled the latest addition to its line  of professional cameras. The 5K Scarlet-W is a versatile option for professional shooters, offering the Dragon sensor, interchangeable lens mounts, simultaneous recording in Redcode RAW and Apple ProRes formats, an intelligent OLPF system, and in-camera 3D-LUT outputs. Priced at $9,950 for the camera brain, the Scarlet-W is also available with a base I/O V-lock package for $14,500.

Scarlet-W captures 5K at 60 frames per second, 4K at 150fps, or 2K at 300fps with Redcode Raw. Its wide dynamic range produces cinema-quality images rich with natural color. The camera also offers an upgrade path to Red’s Weapon and uses the DSMC2 line of accessories, which are compatible with both the Raven and Weapon models.

The Red Raven is the company’s most compact and lightweight camera. It’s priced at $5,950 for the brain only, with full packages starting at $9,750.

Red plans to deliver the new Scarlet-W in February.
