Production Music Association to present 'trends' panel on 8/29

NASHVILLE — The Production Music Association will hold an event on Monday, August 29th at the new SESAC headquarters on Music Row (35 Music Square East). The “Songs & Production Music: Trends, Issues and Opportunities” panel will take place from 6pm until 9pm, and will be moderated by Cassie Lord, president and executive producer of 5 Alarm Music.

According to PMA, 70 percent of the music used in film, TV, advertising, video games and media today is production music. The panel will look at some of the hottest trends and issues in this arena, and will explore the latest trends in both songs and instrumental music for all media.

Some of the topics aimed for discussion include: where do most PML songs tend to get used, what types (styles) of songs in PMLs tend to get the most usage, what types of lyric content tend to be most useful for clients, and to what extent are PML songs expected to mimic the charts?

Panelists set to participate include: Janet Wade, music clearance & licensing, Turner; Josh Collum, co-founder & partner, Sorted Noise; Doug Bossi, owner, composer, & producer, iSpy Music; Anastasia Brown, music supervisor, Format Entertainment; and Randy Wachtler, president & CEO, Warner/Chappell Production Music.
