'The Martian' wins AMPS award for feature film sound

LONDON — The Association of Motion Picture Sound (www.amps.net) has announced that The Martian is the winner of its 3rd Annual Award for ‘Excellence in Sound for a Feature Film’.

The award goes to production sound mixer Mac Ruth, supervising sound editor Oliver Tarney and re-recording mixer Paul Massey. The film’s sound was competing against Bridge of Spies, The Hateful Eight, Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

AMPS was founded in the UK in 1989 and has a global membership of over 450. Its members are imaginative and highly experienced recording, mixing and sound-editing professionals who work in the cinema and television industries. Dolby Laboratories, a long-time AMPS Sustaining Member, once again sponsored the prestigious award.
