VFX studio Rebellion completes first year, takes on Airplane Mode

VENICE, CA — Rebellion (rebellionvfx.com) is a year-old visual effects studio based in Venice, CA, just across from the Venice Google headquarters. Founded by Jake Maymudes, a former VFX supervisor at The Mill and artist at Industrial Light & Magic, the studio is co-helmed by CG supervisor Carl Harders, also formerly a supervisor at The Mill. They are joined by Kellie Iranon, who serves as the company’s VFX producer.

Maymudes was recently recruited to serve as the VFX supervisor for the upcoming action/comedy film Airplane Mode. Written by and starring social media/generation Z influencer Logan Paul, the film also features Juanpa, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, Amanda Cerny, Lele Pons, Roman Atwood, Brittany Furlan, and a number of other influencers who collectively reach over 100 million people. The feature is being shot at Red Studios in Hollywood. Rebellion and its team of Rebel Artists will create more than 500 VFX shots for the film.

In its first year, Rebellion has tackled numerous high profile projects, including VFX shots for the feature Everest, Marc Forster’s soon to be released All I See Is You, a Spike Jonze’ short film for fashion brand Kenzo, and commercial projects for the likes of Lenovo, Bosch, Meow Mix, Dodge, and Bud Lite. The studio will contribute to an upcoming  Super Bowl spot that will be going into post production in early January.
