CGW hosts SIGGRAPH panel for Student Volunteers

LOS ANGELES — Computer Graphics World held its annual Get Connected! panel at SIGGRAPH for the Student Volunteers on Sunday afternoon. For the past several years, CGW has presented the panel, which consists of industry rock stars who provide the SIGGRAPH Student Volunteers with information that will help them as they ready themselves for a career in the industry.

Participating on this year’s panel were:
- Vince Baertsoen, group CG director at The Mill
- Mike Bain, head of CG at Framestore
- Benoit Leveau, head of Pipeline at Milk-VFX
- Graham Jack, CTO of Double Negative
- Pascal Chappuis, head of technical production at Image Engine (part of Cinesite)

These industry veterans detailed their professional journey, provided details about their work, offered insight as to what it is like to work in the graphics industry, and even gave tips to the Student Volunteers that may help them in their own journeys.

Once again, Autodesk sponsored this presentation.

The SIGGRAPH 2017 Student Volunteer Program gives students a closer look at the computer graphics industry, with full conference registration, exclusive special sessions, access to the latest technology and innovations, opportunities to network with industry professionals and fellow Student Volunteers, and inspiration for tomorrow's industry leaders.

As a Student Volunteer, each person supports the conference and has the opportunity to meet and learn from professionals, creators, educators, visionaries, and each other.
This exclusive yearly experience is available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who are enrolled full time for at least one semester during the 2016-2017 academic year and are at least 18 years of age (on or before July 22, 2017). Qualified students can apply to volunteer for 25 hours (approximately) during the conference. All applicants are eligible to apply for a financial aid award to help ease the cost of attendance.
