Big Block helps Ford promote new F-150 trucks

LOS ANGELES — Big Block (http://bigblockla.com) helped Ford usher in 2018 with a new series of spots promoting its F-150 line of trucks. The campaign is designed to highlight a now even tougher, smarter and more capable F-150.

Detroit agency GTB conceived the campaign, which was shot over 10 days in Los Angeles and around Oregon’s Mt. Hood. DP Dan Mindel (Star Trek, The Bourne Identity) shot the project, which was directed by Big Block’s Paul Trillo and features the familiar voiceover of Denis Leary.

Trillo maintained the tone and voice of the original campaign while adding a distinct technical style and kinetic energy that results in a new level of excitement. Dynamic camera movement and quick editing bring a new vitality to the “Built Ford Tough” concept.

The Law - Motor Trend, Smorgasbord, Law, Braniac and QB spots all tout the F-150’s towing, torque and payload capacity. In each, F-150s are shown working among giant graphics that represent the challenges that heavy duty trucks regularly face. Sweeping camera moves guide the audience through distinct moments that show off the F-150’s capabilities. While previous spots relied largely on motion-graphics, Trillo’s approach achieved a more authentic feel with custom camera rigs set up at real locations.

Big Block handled editorial, color correction and finishing for the project, employing Maya, 3ds Max, Nuke, Flame and PFTrack.
