Jon Hurst appointed MD of London's Nineteentwenty

LONDON — Post production facility Nineteentwenty has added Jon Hurst as managing director. He was the former co-founder of Big Buoy and will now work to grow the Nineteentwenty business from its London headquarters.

Hurst comes to the studio following nearly two decades at the London post house, Big Buoy. He got his start as a runner and gradually worked his way up to studio manager. This growth would eventually take him on a journey to opening his own post facility. Following the merger of Smoke and Mirrors Creative and Big Buoy, Hurst parted ways with the company.

“After building Big Buoy from the ground up, I think I’d never have been brave enough to leave my people and my brand behind of my own accord,” he states. “However, departing after the merger turned out to be the best thing that’s happened to me. It has given me much more freedom.”

Nineteentwenty, he says, are well known for their CGI and visual effects work, and have developed a strong reputation. “In addition, there is a good work life balance here and their creative community is a massive draw point. I’m looking forward to adding more value to nineteentwenty and building on that.”
