Assistant Editors' Bootcamp to look at Avid effects and sound editing

BURBANK, CA — The Assistant Editors' Bootcamp (www.assistbootcamp.com) returns this weekend - Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd - with its fourth installment of courses covering skills to master Avid Effects and Sound Editing and Design. Classes can be attended in person or online, where participants can ask questions along the way. 

“Avid Effects for The Cutting Room” will be taught by Ryan Westpahl (Quantico, Perfect Stanger) and is geared toward scripted workflows, with skills learned also applicable to documentary and unscripted work. The class will include a thorough introduction on the effects tools available in Avid Media Composer, focusing on how to create efficient temp VFX and titles effectively with the use of Avid tools.

“Sound Editing and Design for the Cutting Room” is a program designed for those interested in taking their sound design skills to the next level. Taught by Ralph Jean-Pierre (Intersection, Lost In Space, Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes), the class will focus on sound editing and design for scripted projects. Attendees will learn the best tools, techniques and workflows to create complex, immersive sound design.

Students can take one or both classes. Those who sign up for the online webinar will have access to class videos for 10 days after the presentation.
