COMPANY 3 HIRES JOHN SCHEER

SANTA MONICA - In response to increased involvement in high-def spots and effects work for films, Company 3 (www.company3.com) has hired visual effects compositor John Scheer.

In his first feature film project for Company 3, Scheer is online editing and handling various visual effects for the upcoming Columbia Pictures release "Bad Boys II." He is using a Quantel iQ.

For the past two years, Scheer has been working as a freelancer under the shingle Scheer FX. His credits include spots for DirecTV (Deutsch, Los Angeles) and Miller Lite (Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago). Previously, he was on staff at 525 Studios, Santa Monica, where he worked on music videos for such artists as Sisqo, Destiny's Child, Elton John and Leann Rimes. In joint projects by 525 Studios and Scheer FX, he contributed to commercials for the California Milk Advisory Board (Deutsch, Los Angeles), Chevy Avalanche (Campbell-Ewald, Detroit) and Samuel Adams (Big Chair Creative Group). Scheer won a Monitor Award in 2000 for "best visual effects" for his title treatments for the MTV Movie Awards.

A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Scheer began his career at Digital Magic in Santa Monica where he was involved in film scanning and recording for feature films. While there, he trained himself to be a compositor on a Quantel Henry.
