DIGITAL CINEMA RISING, STUDY SHOWS

NEW YORK - Market and technology research company SCRI International (www.scri.com) recently released its "2003-2005 Digital Cinema Marketplace Report," which reveals that digital cinema, especially in terms of acquisition and post, is rising significantly in 2003.

"By 2003, almost eight out of 10 film/post production houses will be shooting feature film digitally instead of motion picture film," states the report. According to the report, nearly three-fourths of respondents indicated that they had or were intending to shoot digital video in 2003, with another 15 percent saying that they were unsure. By the end of 2003, 83 percent of film/post facilities said they'd be shooting digitally instead of film and among cinematographers the percentage was nearly as high (78 percent).
