CONVERGENCE EDITOR LORA ZARETSKY CUTS MOVEON'S 'PIE'

NEW YORK - Editor Lora Zaretsky of Manhattan's Convergence (www.convergenceny.com) recently cut a :30 commercial for MoveOn that kicks off the organization's"10 Weeks: Don't Get Mad, Get Even" campaign. The spot stars W. Earl Brown, Illiana Douglas and Ione Skye, and is based on Al Franken's book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them."

Zaretsky used Avid Xpress running on a laptop to cut the project. She also used the Internet for approval purposes.

"It's changed our business," she says of the Internet. "On the moveon.org spot, the director was in LA, the client in Washington, DC, and we and the production company were in New York. I never met the director or the client in person during the edit, as everything was viewed by postings. I've had an increasing number of projects now where the entire project, from start to finish, happens with people in far away cities, who don't actually work together in person."

Curious Pictures produced the spot. Victor Mulholland at Company 3 served as colorist. Convergence assistant editor Bryce Leysath worked with Zaretsky.
