HOLLYWOOD - Editor Scott Hill recently completed work on New Line Cinema's upcoming feature film "Monster-in-Law." Hill used a Lightworks Touch NLE to cut the Robert Luketic-directed comedic film, which stars Jennifer Lopez as a would-be bride who buts heads with her future mother in law, played by Jane Fonda.
Hill requests Lightworks system for all his features work because of its simple, powerful interface. "For me," he says, "it's a lot easier to edit using Lightworks. It's an editing system designed by editors which just happens to be a computer - as opposed to a computer that happens to edit. Most of the features I need to use on a day-to-day basis are concentrated on the console so that I rarely use a keyboard or mouse."
Scott also finds Lightworks preferable in cutting effects. And while "Monster-in-Law" was not an effects-heavy film, he says there were several effects shots he was able to accomplish very smoothly.
"Once again, it's all about how fast I can cut a scene or affect the director's notes. With Lightworks, when I'm doing green-screen or blue-screen keying, it's all realtime. I don't have to render anything while I'm going along. I never have to stop the editing process to render any of the effects and that really enhances the workflow."
"It has been quite an adventure and an interesting process," Hill says of "Monster-in-Law," "only because once we got the film put together back in November, we realized we needed to do some re-shooting - some of which effected the ending. And again, this is the benefit of Lightworks' efficiencies - you are able to accomplish more in less time."
Hill's credits include" Law & Order," "A Walk in the Clouds," "The Nutty Professor," "Patch Adams," "Dragonfly," "Bruce Almighty," "Just Married," and "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton," all of which were edited on a Lightworks systems.
