REAL WORLD UPGRADES FOR 5.1 FUTURE

WILTSHIRE, UK - Real World Studios has installed a new custom-built Solid State Logic XL 9000 K Series console in its main studio, The Big Room. The residential facility is owned by recording artist Peter Gabriel, and is seeing its first major face-lift since the room opened in 1988.

The Big Room is being equipped for 5.1 work and high-resolution audio recording. Alongside the installation of the new console, The Big Room has also had its monitoring and acoustics upgraded for 5.1 surround sound work. The new desk is large but works well in the space thanks to its U-configuration, keeping controls within easy reach of the operator.

Solid State Logic's XL 9000 K Series is one of the first analog consoles to provide the dual benefits of a full 5.1 surround architecture and the increased bandwidth and resolution needed for DVD-Audio and SACD. Gabriel is currently working on music for this year's World Cup, as well as a number of movie scores.

Real World will also be transforming its smaller second studio, The Production Room, by installing an SSL AWS 900 Analogue Workstation System. The Production Room will be completed this spring.
