WEXLER INVESTS IN XDCAM HD

BURBANK, CA – Rental house Wexler (www.wexler.tv) has purchased 25 of Sony’s new XDCAM HD optical disc cameras along with 50 of Canon’s portable HD lenses. The purchase includes 25 KH21ex5.7 IRSE telephoto lenses and 25 KH10ex3.6 IRSE wide-angle models.

“With the networks requiring more high definition originated programming, there is a growing need for cost-effective production solutions,” says Chris Thompson, president/CEO of Wexler. “Many TV shows are ready to go HD right now, their main barriers being budget and workflow constraints. The XDCAM HD technology goes along way to removing those barriers and offers features not even available on many higher-end cameras.”

Sony’s new PDW-F350 offers true variable frame rate recording capabilities. This feature, among others, appeals to pros in reality TV production and news magazine programming.
Wexler has provided standard definition XDCAM camcorders to a number of popular shows, including Nanny 911, Rock Star INXS, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, America’s Next Top Model, and MTV’s Punk’d.
