SONY MEDIA SOFTWARE UPDATES VEGAS 6 NLE

MADISON, WI — Sony Media Software has released a free update to its Vegas 6 nonlinear editing software. In addition to its preexisting encoding and export capabilities for the PlayStation Portable, new features include improved AVC support that offers enhancements when developing content for devices such as the Apple iPod, high-definition AVC encoding and AVC editing options directly from the Vegas timeline.

“This Vegas 6 update is more than just a maintenance release and brings new functionality to the Vegas application,” says Dave Chaimson, VP of marketing, Sony Media Software. “The free update for registered users provides a tremendous improvement to the AVC support, and anyone looking to edit or deliver content in the AVC format will find this update to be invaluable.”

AVC enhancements include higher-quality encoding for portable devices as well as high definition encoding for streaming delivery, computer monitor playback and digital signage. The update also allows the import of ACC/AAC into a Vegas project and the ability to encode to any output format supported by Vegas software.

iPod support includes video format export for iPod playback and a render template specifically aimed at the Apple iPod. Template support and direct export to the PSP were previously made available in an earlier update to Vegas.
