W.I.T. WINS 48 HOUR HD FILMMAKER SHOWDOWN

WASHINGTON, DC - The Washington Improv Theater (W.I.T.) won the 48 Hour HD Filmmaker Showdown with its fantasy short film, Multiverse. The project was shot using Panasonic’s hand-held, production-quality AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD camcorder.

The creative team was awarded an HVX200 camera at the 48HFP end-of-year event at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, CA, held last month. All five of the competing teams, including those from Cincinnati, Des Moines, Nashville and San Francisco, were loaned Panasonic HVX200 HD cameras during the event weekend to shoot their HD films, and also received Avid's Mojo accelerator and HD Xpress software for their participation in the Showdown.

WIT director Tyler Korba said the WIT team used the HVX200’s slow motion feature to create otherworldly scenes at both an airport and a park used in Multiverse.
The camera (www.panasonic.com/hvx200) is capable of capturing in HD or SD formats, multiple recording modes and variable frames rates. It also uses Panasonic’s P2 solid state memory media.
