WAFIAN OFFERS HD DISK RECORDER

SOLANA BEACH, CA – Wafian’s (www.wafian.com) HR-1 is an on-set 10-bit direct-to-disk HD video recorder that records to both AVI and MOV formats. The unit captures the HDSDI and HD component feeds from basically any HD camera. Connecting the HR-1 to Canon’s XL H1 via HDSDI output allows the unit to record Canon’s 24F mode into 4:2:2 1080 24p clips. Using it in conjunction with the JVC Pro HD GY-HD100U allows user to record 1280 x 720 4:2:2 (24p & 60p) footage.

By connecting to a camera through component outputs, the HR-1 can record the full 1280x720 4:2:2 direct-to-disk into the CineForm Digital Intermediate format. By selecting 60p settings, users can achieve realtime under cranking for slow motion effects of 2.5x, 2x, or 1.25x.

Wafian sees the HR-1 as a drop-in replacement for HD VTRs. Those that normally record to HDV tapes will improve the quality of their footage by eliminating the color loss associated with tape. Footage can be reviewed immediately after shooting with nonlinear access on touch screen LCD panel. Clips can be transferred to an editing station over Gigabit Ethernet at 2-3x realtime or through FireWire or USB 2.

Priced at $17,500, which includes a shock-mount case, the HR-1 offers 18 hours of capacity at RAID-10 and 36 hours of storage at RAID-0.
