LAS VEGAS - Post Digital, the post production unit of Vegas
Media Group, recently provided finishing services for the feature The Ghosts of
Goldfield. The project marks the studio's first original feature production and
was posted using its new Quantel eQ editing/effects/grading/mastering system.
Vegas Media Group has a history of working in commercials and other productions
for the booming gaming market in Las Vegas. The facility branched out into long
format shows four years ago, focusing on high-definition production. More
recently, Vegas Media Group made a commitment to produce features.
The Ghosts of Goldfield is an 18th Avenue Production project produced in
affiliation with Stella Productions. The 82-minute feature was shot in HD last
December and is loosely based on stories and legends surrounding the old
Goldfield hotel, located about three-hours from Las Vegas.
An HDCAM master of The Ghosts of Goldfield is being output directly from the
eQ. The feature's final release will be on DVD.
Digital Post is home to a Quantel Editbox, which it uses to
edit, color correct and composite standard definition material. The studio
wanted comparable HD capabilities, and with the decision to take on more
feature work, purchased the new eQ at last April's NAB show.
