FLETCHER SENDS PANASONIC HD CAMERAS TO STURGIS RALLY

CHICAGO – Broadcast equipment supplier Fletcher Chicago recently sent several Panasonic AK-HC1500G 1080i/720p switchable HD point-of-view cameras to cover the famed Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, held every August in the small town of Sturgis, SD. The ten-day Rally features hundreds of events, including concerts by artists such as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Billy Idol, Steppenwolf, David Lee Roth and Joe Cocker.

LA’s Coming Home Productions rented four of the Panasonic HD POV cameras to create a DVD documenting the Rally. The disc will be commercially available later this year.

Fletcher has purchased 20 AK-HC1500Gs for rental to clients specializing in sports production and event staging. The rental house was impressed with the camera’s ability to switch between 1080i and 720p formats, as well as with its compact size, light weight, variable speed shooting capabilities and 24p film-like image capture.

The unit is compatible with all international HD standards supporting 1080 (60i/59.94i, 50i, 30p, 25p/24p) and 720 (60p, 59.94p/50p) high definition output. It is remote controllable and is compatible with Panasonic’s line of indoor and outdoor pan-tilt heads, pan-tilt controllers and camera control units.
