ECHO BOYS LAUNCHES MUSIC LICENSING DIVISION

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Original music house Echo Boys (www.echoboys.com) has launched a music-licensing division, as well as signed veteran music producer Steve McCabe to run the satellite service. With this new offering Echo Boys becomes a full-service resource for original music, sound design and licensed music for commercial projects. The facility also offers audio recording and mixing services through its on-site sister company, Crash & Sue’s, which can provide a full slate of post services.

“Many of the same clients that rely on Echo Boys for original music also have the need for a company to guide them through the process of finding and licensing music,” says Echo Boys co-founder/sound designer Tom Lecher. “We wanted to create a one-stop, full-service resources for all of our clients’ music and sound needs.”

McCabe has produced over 150 recording artists, including the late Wilson Pickett, Bo Diddley, Stephen Stills, Leon Russell, the Allman Brothers, Eric Burdon, the late Robert Palmer, Johnny Winter, Bootsy Collins, George Jones, B.B. King and The Judds. He’s also been music director on tour-sponsorship campaigns for The Rolling Stones, The Who, Rod Stewart, and Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

McCabe’s musical career includes writing, recording and producing music for advertising. He began as a copywriter and head of music production at DMB&B in St. Louis, where he served from 1985-89. He moved to Backer Spielvogel Bates in New York where he was VP/senior copywriter/senior broadcast and music producer from 1989-95. During the decade he spent with these two agencies he helped pioneer the use of classic rock songs in commercials as music director for the Budweiser and Miller accounts.

In 1995, McCabe joined Y&R/NY as VP/music director. Three years later he came on board at Campbell Mithun Esty/Minneapolis as VP/head of music production. Most recently, McCabe served as associate creative director/senior copywriter/senior broadcast producer at Doe Anderson Advertising/Louisville from 2000-2005.

“I worked with both Echo Boys and Crash & Sue’s when I was an agency broadcast producer and was always impressed with the high level of work,” McCabe recalls.  “Echo Boys is a great music house with a talented band of composers, sound designers and musicians who play and write really unique stuff. It’s the kind of company that I’m proud to associate myself with.”
