WEST POST DIGITAL FINISHES 'AFTER THE STORM'

SANTA MONICA, CA – Boutique finishing house West Post Digital (www.westpostdigital.com) recently completed work on four episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: After The Storm. The series centers around re-building projects in Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana and Texas following major hurricanes and aired on ABC in March and April.

West Post Digital has been handling online finishing for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition reality series since its premiere in 2003.

“During the regular season, the show typically locks on Thursday night, and we deliver it finished and color graded, ready to go, on Friday night,” says West Post Digital co-owner Kenny Fields. “We’ve developed some specialized workflows specifically for this schedule, and we’ve been able to streamline processes to where we can completely finish an entire show in around 24 hours.”

The After the Storm episodes were finished in standard definition on an Avid Symphony Nitris system and color graded on a da Vinci 2K by colorist Paul Roman. As with the regular-season show, the ability to color correct the show in realtime on the da Vinci while conforming and titling were handled simultaneously on the Symphony played a big role in helping West Post Digital finish the episodes quickly and at the highest quality. Pre-digitizing cuts and digitizing only new shots in the locked picture instead of the whole cut, also helped bring the show in under deadline.
