OPTIMUS' GRAPHICS DEPARTMENT GROWS

CHICAGO — Commercial editing house Optimus (www.optimus.com) has expended it graphics department with the recent addition of motion graphics specialist Rick Thompson. Thompson was previously a senior designer at Digital Kitchen and will serve as design director now at Optimus.

While at Chicago’s Digital Kitchen, Thompson worked on several entertainment projects for clients such as HBO, CBS and Showtime. He also spent 10 years as an Inferno artist at Swell, also in Chicago.

“Rick’s talent, specialization and openness are a perfect fit for Optimus’ restructured graphics and design department,” says president Tom Duff. “He brings an enthusiasm for the art of motion graphics and design that will call attention to our work and capabilities as we grow our client base. We can take on higher levels and greater volumes of design work under this new department and its expanded staff.”

Thompson’s hire comes on the heels of the addition of visual effects director Matt Daly, who joined the studio in January.
