CHESHIRE, UK - Merging Technologies (www.merging.com), the maker of the Pyramix digital audio workstation, debuted Ramses MSC at NAB, a new console control surface that will begin shipping in May. Ramses will be available in 8-, 16- and 24-fader configurations and can control up to four 256-channel Pyramix DAWs making it suitable for film mixing applications. Pricing ranges from $33,984 to $58,149 for the Ramses MSC depending on fader count.
Pyramix has also been upgraded with new the new MassCore engine, which provides more power and tracks without relying on Windows of Mac operating systems. Pyramix Native is available for $1,200 as a software application, but a typical post set-up, says Merging Technologies’ Ken Barnsley, will cost between $10K and $15K, with additional expense for I/O interface cards.
In related news, Merging Technologies also offers a turnkey video playback device called VCube. As a turnkey hardware system, VCube can playback SD, HD and 2K formats. The company has now introduced a card and software version of VCube for users who want to integrate the playback device directly into their DAW.
