SONICPOOL DESIGNING, MIXING FEARNET PROMOS

HOLLYWOOD - SonicPool (www.sonicpool.com) has been signed to perform sound design and 5.1 surround mixing for all of the promos that will be used in the launch of the on-demand service for the horror TV network, FEARnet.

The network - a joint venture between Comcast Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate Entertainment - launched last Halloween with the intent of being a premiere destination for the horror genre. FEARnet's content is available to viewers in three ways: on demand, online and on mobile devices. The project came to the studio through Liquid Theory, which produced the new promos.

According to SonicPool co-founder/supervising sound mixers Patrick Bird, the studio is no stranger to the horror genre. "We've worked on several horror and conceptual features, as well as seven seasons of X-Files promos, but Liquid Theory has really allowed us to 'take the gloves off' on these new spots. We always try to use sound design and 5.1 surround to help expand the overall experience beyond the boundaries of the screen, and the horror genre provides a great stage for that aural sensation. We're big believers in the theory that your mind can make what you don't see scarier than what do you see, especially if you can hear it. As we create our sonic work in concert with Liquid Theory's tasty visuals and creative concepts, we always try to keep that mantra in mind."
