ASCENT NAMES JOSE ROYO CEO

HOLLYWOOD - Jose Royo was recently named CEO of Ascent Media Group. He’s been with the company for six years, having most recently held the position of CTO. During his tenure, Royo has helped drive AMG's success in delivering a new generation of digital services for the media and entertainment industries.

As CEO of Ascent, Royo will continue to provide vision and leadership  for emerging digital media business models and strategies, while  extending the company’s leadership in creative post production, media management and distribution services.

As CTO of AMG for the past year, Royo managed the execution of all  technical aspects of the company's operating entities and headed  long-term technology planning and partnership efforts, as well as  day-to-day global IT operations. He previously served as senior vice  president, technology & operations, digital services group, where  he was instrumental in developing file-based content management services  to aggregate, transform and deliver content for broadband, video-on-demand,  mobile and other multi-channel opportunities. He has also headed AMG's Digital Media Center and its New Products Group.

Prior to his time at AMG, Royo was CTO at Broadband Sports, director of program management at Trilogy Software, and lead software architect at Harvard University. He holds AM, PhD, and MBA degrees from Harvard University where he was a Harvard Baker Scholar and TDK Fellow. He is fluent in Japanese and at one time worked as a simultaneous translator for Matsushita.
