MATROX INTRODUCES MAC I/O SOLUTION

MONTREAL -  Matrox Video Products Group (www.matrox.com) recently introduced the MXO2, a portable and affordable I/O for the Mac. Priced at $1,595 and set for release in July, the MXO2 is designed to streamline editing workflows on Intel-based Apple MacBook Pros and Mac Pros running Final Cut Studio.

The unit is compact and can operate off of a field battery or an AC adapter. It provides broadcast-quality input/output, monitoring and up/down/cross conversion. I/O includes HD/SD SDI, HD/SD analog component, Y/C, and composite. Native support is offered for XDCAM, XDCAM HD, XDCAM EX, and P2 formats. Users can capture to a variety of codecs, including Apple ProRes 422 HQ and 10-bit uncompressed HD.

Professional audio inputs and outputs allow for 5.1 surround sound monitoring, and RS-422 machine control allows for frame-accurate capture and print-to-tape.

In addition to Final Cut Pro, the MXO2 worked with Apple Color, Adobe After Effects and all QuickTime applications that support the V-out component.
