SGI SHOWCASING SOLUTIONS FOR MANAGEMENT AND ARCHIVE WORKFLOWS

LAS VEGAS – SGI is focusing on server and storage solutions for digital content management for production and archive workflows at this year’s NAB. These workflows incorporate high-performance databases, multi-tiered storage and tools to manage filesystems, digital assets and archives in open-standards environments.
  
The company (www.sgi.com) is debuting new Altix server and InfiniteStorage products at the show. On its new Intel Xeon-based Altix XE system running Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003, SGI is demonstrating PipelineFX’s Qube! render management solution. Other demonstrations include DataFrameworks Filesystem Management on Altix XE, a new SGI app manager for monitoring NAS and SAN systems, and a new low-cost workgroup SAN complete with SGI Altix XE metadata server, InfiniteStorage system and CXFS shared filesystem licenses.
 
Along the lines of digital content management for archive workflows, SGI is demonstrating VideoBank Digital Media Management for Broadcast, Front Porch Digital DIVArchive, Hitachi Content Archive, Silex Media’s Hydrogen archive management suite, and CCI-EnVision, a highly interactive kiosk product.
