SPIRIT TELECINE FAMILY GROWS

LAS VEGAS - Nevada City, CA's Thomson is at NAB with the newest member of the Grass Valley Spirit telecine family (www.grassvalley.com). The Spirit HD shares all of the optical and mechanical components of the Spirit 4K scanner, allowing it to be upgraded from HD to 2K and 4K capabilities as a studio’s needs evolve.

Priced at $698K, the Spirit HD scans SD and HD formats in both 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 color resolutions. Outputs are available as SDI, HD-SDI, dual-link HD-SDI and data, allowing the system to be used as the input to 1920x1080 digital intermediate post production. Gates are available for both 35mm and 16mm film.

Thomson says the upgrade to 2K capabilities can be performed in the field in just one day, keeping downtime at a minimum. The upgraded to 4K will take two days.
