RED GIANT SHOWS NEW MAGIC BULLET TOOLS

LAS VEGAS – San Francisco’s Red Giant Software  (www.redgiantsoftware.com) unveiled a new line of Magic Bullet products at NAB. The Magic Bullet line now includes three individual products: Magic Bullet Looks, Magic Bullet Frames, and Magic Bullet Colorista. Magic Bullet Suite is a collection of these tools and also includes Instant HD.

Magic Bullet Looks ($399) lets users define the style of their video or film with imaging tools in After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Premiere Pro, and Avid NLEs. The new user interface makes it easy to create Looks and has 32 tools for doing tasks that range from simple exposure adjustment to radical color changes.

Magic Bullet Looks is also a stand-alone design application. Users can take Looks on set to create looks or presets during production.

Magic Bullet Frames ($199) offers fast and high-quality conversion of 60i material to 24p or just de-interlacing of video in After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Avid and Premiere Pro.  And Magic Bullet Colorista ($199), the color correction tool that launched in 2006, now supports After Effects CS3 Professional, Premiere Pro CS3, and the new Final Cut Studio. There will be updates for Intel Macs across the board.

Red Giant is also showing a new Trapcode product codenamed Flux. Flux is a particle system that lets users produce fluid, flowing, organic shapes and other moving geometric 3D patterns. The tool will include numerous customizable presets and adjustable parameters for advanced users to create their own looks. Flux is scheduled for release this summer and pricing will be announced at that time.

Trapcode plug-ins are being made available for visual effects and motion graphics in most major editing applications. In May 2007, Trapcode Shine, Starglow and 3D Stroke ($99 each) will be available for Final Cut Pro, Motion, Avid, and Premiere Pro. Trapcode Shine, Starglow, and 3D Stroke will also be updated to include 32-bit float support for all hosts.

Instant HD Pro ($399) is a conversion tool that provides de-interlacing, de-noising, sharpening, re-graining, advanced pan and scan, and a super-resolution algorithm for editors. In addition, the original Instant HD now features handling of interlaced and progressive sources.

Primatte Keyer Pro 4 ($499) brings new levels of power and speed to After Effects, Avid, and for the first time, Premiere Pro. New features include an easy-to-use auto setup, which allows users to create an almost perfect key with just one click. De-artificating, the entire Primatte library, and the Key Correct Light Warp feature in Primatte Keyer 4 are all accelerated via the GPU for up to 10 times faster results.
