Magic Bullet plug-in gives FCP users film look

Red Giant Software (www.redgiantsoftware.com) has released Magic Bullet for Editors, a Final Cut Pro plug-in that enables users to add film treatments right on the timeline. The software delivers film stock emulation, diffusion filter and film-look presets.

Red Giant is exhibiting at the ProMax Systems booth at NAB (SL4218).

Inspired by the film looks found in movies such as Traffic and The Matrix, the software provides 50 custom looks that alter shading, contrast and the tint of scenes to mimic that of 35mm film. Users can choose to use presets or customize their own film treatments, which can be saved in the Library feature.

Magic Bullet for Editors also includes the film damage creation tool, called Misfire, which accurately recreates characteristics of old film, including grain, splotches, and scratches, as well as projection artifacts like flicker and gate weave.

The tool is optimized for use of Power Mac G4s and 5s. It is available exclusively through Red Giant Software for $299.
