MEDIA 100 OFFERS SOFTWARE-ONLY NLE

NEW YORK - At NAB Post+, here, BorisFX’s Media 100 division (www.media100.com) introduced Media 100sw, a software-only nonlinear editing solution costing $395.

Because it doesn’t offer I/O, the Media 100sw is positioned as a companion solution for those who have Media 100i or Media 100 HD systems, allowing users to seamlessly interchanging projects. All existing import and export workflows, including sending third-party compressors for MPEG-2 for DVD or MPEG-4 for the Web, continue to work as they do with the currently shipping Media 100 HD product.

A future standalone version will add support for FireWire capture and output from a range of DV and HDV decks, and will be available as an upgrade to the companion version.

Key features include SD and HD editing using the familiar Media 100 GUI, realtime effects and, depending on processor and drive speeds, accelerated rendering. Also, Boris Graffiti, a vector-based titling solution, is included.

Media 100sw is available through the BorisFX (www.borisfx.com) worldwide reseller channel or directly through BorisFX. For those that want FireWire support, the software will sell for $649. V.1 users can upgrade to this version for $245.
