NVISION, AXON AND TERANEX PARTNER ON HD FORMAT CONVERTERS

LAS VEGAS - At NAB, Axon Digital Design, Nvision and Teranex launched a new range of broadcast-quality high definition up-, down-, cross and standards format converters as part of the modular Synapse product line. These converters are based on Teranex (www.teranex.com) algorithms, and are an alternative to more expensive motion-adaptive converters. All modules are hot swappable, fully redundant powered and can be fitted with direct-to-fiber connections, making them suitable for master control room and outside broadcast/van applications. Nvision (www.nvision.tv) markets and sells the Synapse product line in the United States.

“Our customers expressed their immediate need for powerful converters to handle the HD migration in compact broadcast environments such as master control rooms and OB-vans,” explains Harry Kanters, commercial director of Axon Digital Design (www.axon.tv). “They need to anticipate reusing existing content in the HD era, as well as broadcasting sporting events worldwide, while facing a highly diverse broadcast-format landscape. In close cooperation with Teranex, we engineered a new series of Synapse high-density broadcast-quality format converters to help our customers bridge to future programming, while setting new standards in reduced size and increased performance.”

The new Synapse products include processing modules for a wide range of SD and HD format conversion applications. Modules are available for 50Hz to/from 59.94Hz conversion, SD to/from HD conversion, and conversion between a variety of HD formats. Converters can optionally be equipped with advanced noise reduction, thus allowing users to generate HD content from an un-ideal source. All converters are available with full preset-based audio shuffling capabilities.
