DIGIDESIGN SELLS 1,000TH ICON, DEBUTS PRO TOOLS HD 7.2

LAS VEGAS – At Avid’s NAB press conference, the company’s Digidesign (www.digidesign.com) business announced that is has sold its 1,000th ICON mixing console, a 48-fader dual-operator D-Control to Walt Disney Pictures and Television. The mixing console will be used to mix the next season of the hit television show Lost. The company also announced further integration with Avid’s Media Composer line of nonlinear editors.

The new Media Composer family – Version 2.5 – now have “send to Pro Tools templates” as well as “send via Digidelivery” commands. Pro Tools will support Avid’s Isis storage platform and will feature integration with Avid’s new Interplay asset management/workflow solution.

At the show, Digidesign introduced Version 7.2 of Pro Tools HD, which now allows users to edit video on the timeline, eliminating the need to go back into an NLE to make minor adjustments. In addition, the new version of Pro Tools supports multiple video tracks and well as alternate-source audio. New automation modes have been added, as well as pan control grouping.

Digidesign also introduced the portable Pro Tools LE application with DV Toolkit 2. The release supports Intel-based Macs and lets users work with up to 48 tracks.
