FOUR NEW PLUG-INS FROM RED GIANT

LAS VEGAS – San Francisco’s Red Giant Software (www.redgiantsoftware.com) is at NAB with four new products. The company is set up at the Adobe Plug-In Pavilion, and is demonstrating Knoll Light Factory 2.5, Magic Bullet Suite 2.1, Film Fix, and Instant HD, as well its other products: Primatte Keyer, Magic Bullet Editors, Image Lounge and Key Correct Pro.

Knoll Light Factory is an After Effects plug-in that simulates reflections from a very bright light source as seen in a camera’s lens. The tool lets users render high-quality flares in near realtime, with support from GPU render engine. New plug-in support has been added for Premiere Pro 1.5 and later and Avid AVX systems. Twenty-five new flares have been added in the standard and EZ versions. Version 2.5 will begin shipping this month and will cost $395. A Knoll Light Factory Editors V.2.5 release will be available for select editing applications for $199.

Magic Bullet Suite was developed by The Orphanage, and is an After Effects plug-in for processing digital video footage for output to DVD, TV, or film. Users can also de-interlace and de-artifact footage, apply film treatments, crop footage and ensure compliance with broadcast TV standards. New features include in Version 2.1 includes Look Suite renders of up to seven times faster and support for After Effects 6.5 and 7 Pro. Magic Bullet Suite 2.1 is now shipping and costs $795. Current customers qualify for a free upgrade.

Film Fix consists of a set of After Effects plug-ins designed for documentary filmmakers and post studios that need film and video restoration tools on the desktop. With Film Fix, users can restore tears, remove dust and dirt particles, and stabilize footage originated on film and video resolution material transferred from film. The plug-in is available now for $1,495 and supports After Effects 7 on both platforms.

And Red Giant Software’s new Instant HD tool offers premium quality b-cubic scaling of SD to HD footage. Support is available for Adobe After Effects 6.0-7.0, Premiere Pro 1.5 and later, and Apple Final Cut Pro 5 and later. Users can control quality, sharpness and anti-aliasing. Easy-to-use presets help in scaling DV footage up to HD. The product is now available for $99 as a download and $149 boxed.
