IMMERSIVE MEDIA PUTS VIEWERS IN GEOIMMERSIVE VIDEO

BOSTON – Alberta, Canada’s Immersive Media (www.immersivemedia.com) is at SIGGRAPH with its Telemmersion System, an 11-lense camera that captures 30 fps footage to two harddrives at a rate of 1.3GB/minute and then seamlessly stitches the footage together, creating a spherical, 360-degree image that the viewer can interact with.

According to Immersive COO Karen Tanaka, the stitched, GeoImmersive video footage can be viewed using the Windows Media viewer. Applications include virtual tours and product promotions.

Immersive is also in the process of collecting georeferenced spherical video of all major North American cities which it will make available through licensing arrangements. Viewers will be able check out footage from cities like New York and Las Vegas in an interactive manner that allows them to view the content from any direction without blind spots.
