BOSTON - Los
Angeles-based Vicon (www.vicon.com) is at this year's SIGGRAPH show with a new
software package that provides a single, unified and future-looking toolset for
realtime motion capture, full performance capture and on-set visualization. The
new release also makes processing and applying motion capture data for the 3D
animation pipeline simpler than before.
The new Blade software can be configured as a simpler tool for smaller motion
capture departments, or as a highly-customized and hardware-scalable tool for
large studio uses. Key capabilities include support for realtime playback
of video and motion-capture data, with fully rendered and lit digital
characters either side-by-side with or composited over video. The software also
allows customers to replicate the point of view of video or reference cameras.
The release will be available as an upgrade to existing Vicon customers, and to
new Vicon MX customers.
"This package will be the first to put into one
software environment all of the crucial tools to ensure that what you capture
is what you deliver," explains Vicon product manager Tom Tolles. "It will be
customizable and future-scalable. And it will be the first to combine House of
Moves' field expertise and Diva software with the engineering and product minds
of Vicon systems and Vicon iQ. In fact, its core functionality has
already been pressure-tested at House of Moves and on other large-system
projects in the entertainment space."
