Issue: Day 2 - SIGGRAPH 2007

SAN DIEGO – At SIGGRAPH, motion capture system developer Vicon introduced Blade, a new software system that works with its realtime capture solutions. Blade provides a single, unified toolset that supports the demands of full performance capture and on-set visualization.

The software streamlines system configuration and actor set up with enhanced controls. The system is scalable to simplify motion capture within small boutiques or large VFX houses. Fast and accurate skeletal solving and retargeting features allow users to deliver clean motion data to any 3D application. New production tools allow for capturing facial, finger and body data during multiple performer sequences and long scenes.

The software’s plug-in architecture supports integration of third-party tools, and plug-ins for Autodesk 3DS Max, Maya and MotionBuilder are included. Blade also includes native support for .XSI and .FXB file formats.
