IMAGICA TALKS UP FUTURE FILM SCANNER AT IBC

AMSTERDAM - Imagica (www.imagica-technologies.com) is here at IBC with news on its upcoming Imager HSX-8K film scanner, which will be shown as a prototype at NAB '08 and will ship a year from now.

According to Imagica, the HSX-8K film scanner is a pin-registered scanner, featuring target scanning speeds for 35mm 4-perf film of four frames of 4K each second, or eight frames per second at 2K. The system, which can also be configured to scan two frames of 8K per second, has been re-architectured to use a custom designed 8K x 6K CCD area array sensor with high resolution, high dynamic range and low noise, as well as fast readouts allowing for high-speed scanning.

The Imager HSX-8K will also offer features from existing products, including LED illumination systems; support for Kodak's Digital ICE; support for 35mm 2, 3, and 4 perf as well as 16/s16mm film stocks; Aaton/Evertz KeyKode readers; offline editorial data support; daily color matching; and offline scanning mode.
