Issue: IBC 2008 - Day 2

AMSTERDAM – GenArts ( is showing its new Sapphire plug-ins for OFX products at this year’s IBC. OFX is an open standard for plug-ins that enables developers to support a broad range of platforms with a common interface. The new Sapphire OFX plug-ins bring more than 200 effects to users of Autodesk, The Foundry, Eyeon, FilmLight, Digital Vision and Assimilate tools.

The collection includes regularly-used tools, such as Glows, LensFlares, Glint, FilmDamage, and ZDefocus, as well as more exotic effects, such as Lightning, FlysEye, and JpegDamage. These effects can be applied to content easily by users of The Foundry’s Nuke, Autodesk Toxik, Eyeon Fusion, FilmLight Baselight, Digital Vision Film Master and Assimilate Scratch. Future support is expected for other OFX host platforms.

Sapphire Plug-ins V.1 for OFX products includes the full range of effects, features and functionality already standard for other supported hosts, including V.2 for After Effects and compatible products, V.2 for Apple FxPlug and V.4 for Autodesk systems. Support for floating licenses and background render nodes is also included.

The plug-ins support Windows 32 and 64, Linux 32 and 64, and Mac OS X. In addition, they are designed to take advantage of dual-core, quad-core and 8-core machines for fast rendering.
