ISILON TURBO-CHARGES CLUSTERED STORAGE SOLUTION

AMSTERDAM - Isilon (www.isilon.com) introduced its fifth generation clustered storage solution at the IBC show on Monday. OneFS 5.0 is a turn-key solution that takes advantage of commodity hardware along with Isilon's own clustered storage software. Each node is a 2RU server with 12 drives. A minimum system features three nodes and offers 6TB of storage, and can scale as high as 96 nodes with up to 2.3 Petabytes of storage in a single file system and single volume.

Also new from the company is Accelerator-x, which combines the OneFS 5.0 operating system software with 10 Gigabit Ethernet networking, dual quad-core processors and 32 Gigabytes of cache, delivering 400MBps of single stream performance and 700MBps of concurrent performance from a single node. Enterprise customers that want a performance boost can add Accelerator-x to an Isilon cluster, turbo charging total system performance up to 20GBps of aggregate throughput.
