LUXOLOGY LICENSES NEXUS TECHNOLOGY

LOS ANGELES - On the eve before Siggraph’s exhibition began, Luxology (www.luxology.com), makers of the Modo animation application, reiterated the company’s commitment to their Nexus rendering architecture and showed demos emphasizing the software’s speed. Modo is an end-to-end solution that includes 3D sculpting tools, animation modeling and rendering features, and functionality for network rendering.

The big news at the show for Luxology is that two companies are now licensing its Nexus technology: Dassault Systèmes Solidworks, a 3D mechanical CAD software vendor; and Bentley Systems, makers of software used for sustaining infrastructure. Bentley chose Nexus for its overall performance and plans to use it for enhancements to its MicroStation product line, as well as for other applications in its portfolio of products.

Nexus is cross-platform media-aware architecture that supports the rapid deployment of 2D and 3D authoring and visualization applications. Nexus 4 includes a variety of modeling, sculpting, rendering, painting and animation capabilities, is multi-core aware and is fully scriptable using Perl, Python or LUA.
